Cartoon Campaign for Iranian Women

“Wednesdays without compulsion” is a new campaign of Iranian women and men with white headscarves and/or a white symbol protesting against compulsory hijab #WhiteWednesdays “Wednesdays without compulsion” is a creative idea proposed by “My Stealthy Freedom” facebook page. “United Sketches” Invites all of its members specially the women members to support this movement by create and send their cartoons about this topic. “My Stealthy Freedom” is an online social movement that was started by Iranian journalist Masih Alinejad on May 3, 2014. Since the Islamic Revolution in 1979 women in Iran have had to cover their hair in public, but many Iranian women and men feel that wearing a hijab in public should be a personal choice. Ann Telnaes wins Reuben Award for outstanding cartoonist of the year

The Reuben Award for outstanding cartoonist of the year, went to The Washington Post’s Ann Telnaes, who closely satirized the 2016 election with her animations and live sketches. Telnaes who is United Sketches’ member of the board, also president of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists, won the Pulitzer Prize in 2001 and has also been recognized by the National Headliner Awards and the National Press Foundation.
